The Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program is an Asian Development Bank (ADB) supported initiative which was created in 1997 to encourage economic cooperation among countries in the Central Asian region. The EU Commission proposed a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for certain sectors in the European Green Deal in order to address the risk of carbon leakage if ‘differences in levels of ambition worldwide persist’ as the EU accelerates its reduction targets.
