AFV

Alternative fuelled vehicle. A vehicle using to power its movement a fuel with a lower carbon emission factor than diesel or gasoline.

CAREC

The Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program  is an Asian Development Bank (ADB) supported initiative which was created in 1997 to encourage economic cooperation among countries in the Central Asian region. Participating countries are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, the People’s Republic of China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

CBAM

The EU Commission proposed a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for certain sectors in the European Green Deal in order to address the risk of carbon leakage if ‘differences in levels of ambition worldwide persist’ as the EU accelerates its reduction targets. Under the CBAM proposal published on 14 July 2021 by the Commission1 (as part of a wider set of proposals for implementing the Fit for 55 Package), the same carbon price will be paid for the GHG emissions associated with certain imported goods as in the EU ETS. This briefing provides an overview of the design features of the CBAM and how it is expected to function.

Eco-Trucks / EMS (European Modular System)

Longer combination of vehicles to carry more cargo per engine. EMS is the European version, supposed to be 25.25m long and 60 tons of GCW.

EVP

‘Environmental vehicle passport’ or ‘EVP’ means a record on paper and digital form containing information on the environmental performance of a vehicle at the moment of registration, including the level of pollutant emission limits, CO2 emissions, fuel consumption, energy consumption, electric range and engine power, and battery durability and other related values

GCW

Gross Combination Weight: Maximal Authorized weight for a vehicle assembly in order to be used on public roads.

GDP

Gross Domestic Product

GHG

Greenhouse Gases: gases involving in the climate global warming. The list includes carbon dioxides CO2, methane CH4, water vapor H2O, nitrous oxide N2O, Dichlorodifluoromethane CCI2F2, Chlorodifluoromethane CHClF2, Tetrafluoromethane CF4, Hexafluoroethane C2F6, Sulfur Hexafluoride SF6, Nitrogen Trifluoride NF3 and Ozone O3.

GVW

Gross Vehicle Weight. It is the maximal weight for an isolated vehicle in order to be used on public roads.

ICE

Internal Combustion Engine: engine burning a fuel to produce mechanical energy.
